CREATIVE WORKSHOPS
Join Mia, Wilderness Wood’s resident artist and published author, for an inspiring creative workshop. Gather in the cosy Barn for needle felting, or paint en plein air in a beautiful wooden structure with a fire pit, amazing views, and trees all around. All materials are provided, all abilities are welcome, and you’ll leave feeling heart-centred with a beautiful handmade piece to take home.

Wild Art: Painting With Nature
Date: 3rd April 2026, Good Friday
Age: All ages and abilities welcome
Drop-In: 10am - 4pm
Price: £5 per person (all materials included)
Location: Wilderness Wood, Hadlow Down, East Sussex, TN22 4HJ
Mia will be running a fun creative drop-in session this Good Friday. We’ll create our own paints by crushing and mixing natural elements, then draw with charcoal and paint using natural pigments while exploring different materials to create texture, form and pattern. Perfect for all abilities, and you’ll leave with a beautiful piece of art to take home.
Needle Felt A Four-Legged Animal
Date: Saturday 16th May 2026
Age: Adults and children aged 12+ (children must be accompanied by an adult)
Please note: Needle felting uses sharp tools, so participants should have good listening skills, creative enthusiasm, and some previous craft experience.
Group size: Minimum 3 participants.
If fewer than 3 people book, the workshop may need to be cancelled. In this case, you will be offered a full refund or the option to move your booking to another date.
Time: 10.30am – 2.30pm (4 hour session, snacks provided, bring a packed lunch and water bottle or there is food and drinks available at the hatch.)
Price: £90 (Includes a signed copy of Mia’s My Felted Friends needle felting book and all materials)

In this session, Mia will teach you how to needle-felt a four-legged animal of your choice using a wire armature, perhaps your beloved pet or one of the examples from her book. If you have a particular pet in mind, please message Mia with a photo so she can make sure to
have the correct materials ready.
You’ll leave with a beautiful handmade creation to stand proudly on your mantelpiece or to give as a thoughtful gift, plus the skills to make many more from Mia’s book!
Needle Felt an Owl
Date: Wednesday 27th May 2026 (half-term holiday)
Age: 8 years +
Please note: Needle felting uses sharp tools, so participants should have good listening skills, creative enthusiasm, and some previous craft experience.
Group size: Minimum 4 participants.
If fewer than 4 people book, the workshop may need to be cancelled. In this case, you will be offered a full refund or the option to move your booking to another date.
Time: 10.30am – 1.pm (2.5 hour session, snacks provided bring a water bottle)
Price: £45 (Includes a signed copy of Mia’s My Felted Friends needle felting book and all materials)

In this session Mia will teach you how to needle-felt a beautiful little owl, plus the skills to make many other creatures from Mia’s book!
One-to-One Painting Lessons
Age: 16 years +
Price: £60 per hour (materials included)

Mia is also available to book private painting lessons at Wilderness Wood. Sharing her painting processes using watercolour, acrylic, water-based oil paints and even making paints from natural materials. Exploring colour palettes, composition, texture, form, and movement.
